IRON MAIDEN ”AT BBC STUDIO” (NOVEMBER 14, 1979) WITH TONY PARSONS & DOUG SAMPSON

A quite rare appearance of Tony Parsons, who briefly played guitar for Maiden in 1979. Here, on Nov 14th at the BBC Studios, where they played a four track gig. Iron Maiden, Running Free, Transylvania and Sanctuary.

The Friday Rock Show was a radio show in the United Kingdom that was broadcast on BBC Radio 1 from 10pm to midnight on Friday nights, from 17 November 1978 until 2 April 1993.

On these recordings, the Iron Maiden lineup has Tony Parsons on guitar before Dennis Stratton arrives, as well as Doug Sampson on drums before he left to be replaced by ace-drummer Clive Burr. The four tracks are obviously played quite differently to the later versions of the songs and offer an interesting comparison with the current Iron Maiden sound more than 40 years later.
