On this day in 1981, Nikki Sixx began rehearsing with drummer Tommy Lee and vocalist/guitarist Greg Leon in an effort to form what would eventually become Mötley Crüe. Mick Mars was added shortly thereafter, and Vince Neil solidified the foursome less than three months later.
