KISS ”ROSENGARTEN, MANNHEIM, GERMANY” (MAY 18, 1976) [NEWSREPORT + PHOTOS + POSTER + TICKET]

The Destroyer Tour was the first tour in Europe, and this was the first gig in Germany.

"Hamburg's vice-squad told KISS in no uncertain terms that the short film opening their concerts was obscenity, and that if they tried to show it to local audiences they'd wind up in jail. So KISS elected to project the lamed-down version" (Ray Bearfield, Kingsport-Times News, 7/17/76). Other press reports from the time indicate issues the German authorities had with the "SS" logo at the time, though it would continue to be used on releases by Bellaphon until 1980.

The Scorpions were still actively touring their "In Trance" album. According to Uli John Roth, Paul had heard the band's "In Trance" album and requested them as the opening act for the German shows.
