BURN (SWE) (THORR FANZINE #1, 1984) TRANSLATED

Thorr fanzine was an Italian fanzine written in the same language, but here’s a short article translated for you to English.

BURN BURN

BURN! BIOGRAPHY

More Swedish metal in Thorr fanzine; this time the protagonists are called BURN! The band, originally from Sandviken, began their career in the spring of '82 under the name Spellbound. The original members were: PETE CARRY (drums), TOM OAKLAND (vocals), ALEX HILL (bass), PAT FOX (guitar), and KENNETI SOUTH (guitar). The band initially didn't play heavy metal, but rather explored a genre that rarely found its way into hard rock. After a few less-than-successful gigs in their hometown, Burn decided to replace guitarist Kenneth South with Paul Carry, brother of the aforementioned drummer Pete, and most importantly, they decided to change their old style of music and move toward harder things.

The release of their first demo tape, "DYING TO MEET YOU," is nothing short of a true confirmation of this change within the band: six songs of authentic, uncompromising metal—in short... Heavy Metal!

Things started to go well for the Swedish quintet, and when Moonshine Records, after hearing their demo, decided to sign them, it seemed that luck had finally shifted in the right direction. Immediately in the recording studio, the band composed their first LP (BURN) for Moonshine Records, which even if it doesn't boast a great recording, is certainly among the best of N.W. of H.M. that I've been listening to lately. Ten well-crafted songs embodying clear, non-monotonous ideas. The band's appearance in Stockholm as support act for OZ finally cemented Burn's place among the notable Scandinavian bands like Mercyful Fate, Trash, OZ, Silvermountain, Europe, 220 Volt, and so on.

We're eagerly awaiting their latest release, which should be ready at the end of the summer, again from the moonshine.
