Critical Mass was a Swedish fanzine in the mid 90’s. It was written in Swedish but here’s an article translated to English for you.
NASUM
NASUM, the gate band from Örebro that is known to consist of members of the now defunct NECRONY. NECRONY was awful, but NASUM is even better. Mieszyko, guitarist, who can also call himself a record label director, speaks out…
How do you guys actually work live? I mean, can your drummer play and sing at the same time and where is your bassist?
- Mega-grind Perra (ex. SUFFER) played drums and Anders and I were on vocals.
You've played in Åstorp (of all places) together with ARSEDESTROYER. Have you played anywhere else and if so, with which bands and how has the response been?
- In Åstorp there were few people and a lot of noise. In Berlin it was kind of the opposite, where we played with DEAD and MANOS.
Upcoming releases with NASUM, any gigs booked?
- NASUM/PSYCHO SPLIT 7″, and a full-length 7″ on a Japanese label. We don’t play live anymore.
If anyone wants to book you, what are the conditions?
- 10 sheets and a drummer who can play live (???? .ed)
How come you recorded a split 7″ with AGATHOCLES?
- We were supposed to split with BLOOD from Austria, but they pulled out and Poserslaughter rec. got AGATHOCLES instead. Why I don’t know, they’re completely worthless (WHAT? They’re Godz! .ed)
Are you happy with Poserslaughter rec., who also released your MCD “Industrislaven”? Will you continue working with them?
- They’re like all other labels, profit-hungry… We got the studio paid for and 160 copies of the record anyway. We were supposed to get 200 copies according to the deal. Since they released earlier NECRONY stuff and the split with AGATHOCLES, they want to release more with us, but I doubt we will release more on that label.

Why lyrics in English AND Swedish? Can't you concentrate on one language?
- Well, from now on there will be no lyrics, only dangerous Swedish titles.
You have always recorded with Dan Svanö. How is that possible? Have you considered recording somewhere else?
- Our demo was recorded in Fjugesta (even the best can be wrong… .ed) Unisound was always handy, and we got an incredibly nice price from Danne. From now on, there will be recordings with Form at Studio Punkpalatset. Incredibly cool…
Name three advantages of grindcore
- Cool, fast and cool…
Where are the fans from? Germany, Japan??
- Japan, Germany…
You have started a record label, Grindwork. Tell us a little about it, e.g. about releases, the philosophy behind the label etc.
- The first album on the label is already out. Four bands (including NASUM) burn through 26 songs in 16 minutes. Ass cleaning all the time, not a quiet moment. The next release will have to wait, have to get this album together first. The philosophy is to release good grindcore, i.e. no fucking pussy death/grind pocka-pocka as some call grind. Just clean!
So if you play grind, should you send a demo to you?
- Yes, if you send it to me. Jompa (the other half of G.W.) has backed out and is shitting on the stuff these days…
Yes, that's all. Any last words?
- Good interview, no fuss. Order the following: NASUM – ”Industrislaven” MCD 40:- plus postage. ”Grindwork” 3″ MCD with NASUM/RETALIATION/VIVISECTION/C.S.S.O. 30:- plus postage. NASUM/PSYCHO split 7″ 30:-
