Cult NWOBHM band (named after the 1968 Vincent Price film) formed 1979 in Stourbridge, England. The group disbanded following the release of their second album Friends Of Hell and the following decade saw the band recognized as pioneers of the Doom Metal style. In 2006 they reformed minus vocalist Zeeb Parkes
THIS EPISODE OF METAL SCHOOL ... Takes a look back at a truly overlooked NWOBHM band. Formed by vocalist Zeeb Parkes and guitarist Phil Cope, Witchfinder General only released two albums in the '80s but helped influence the burgeoning doom metal sound with their heavy and often gloomy Black Sabbath-inspired riffs. But they also have a ton of more mid- and uptempo tracks that give this underrated band more variety than you might expect.
