VENOM

Cronos: "We were doing an interview with Garry Bushell for Sounds.

And when he said, 'So about this heavy metal...' I was like, 'WE ARE FUCKING NOT HEAVY FUCKING METAL!' I said, 'We're black metal, speed metal, power metal.' I just spat all these phrases at him. That's where the black metal stuck. So we called the second album Black Metal and thought, 'Right, we're going to shove this down people's throats.'

Read the book that holds the keys to the seven gates: DENIM AND LEATHER: The Rise and Fall of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, by Michael Hann & and listen to BLACK METAL, released this week in 1982.
