John Sykes was a great admirer of Gary Moore and met him in 1981 when he was guitarist for Tygers of Pan Tang. In 1983, Sykes became guitarist for Thin Lizzy and was able to share the stage with Gary Moore for three consecutive nights at Thin Lizzy's farewell concerts in March 1983. Recordings from these three concerts, which culminated in an "All-Star Jam," are partially included on the Thin Lizzy live album "Life" (released in 1983).
