Background information from Steve Brownlee: I went to Phoenix in 1982 with my friend, drummer Glen Mancaruso (St.James/Vengeance Rising) to scout out a band called Surgical Steel and helped them get a song of theirs placed on the Metal Massacre 2 collection on Metal Blade Records. The first night we were there we watched the band perform live with guest singer Rob Halford from Judas Priest.
This pic of me with the band and entourage is from a party the next day and after a day tubing the Salt River with Halford, the band and some of their friends and crew. In this photo you'll find a few "before they were famous" musicians.
Surgical Steel bassist Greg Chaisson went on to success with the band Badlands (he was also my first roommate) and singer Jeff Martin became the front man for Racer X / drummer for Badlands and MSG, Also in this photo are a young Kenny Chaisson who later became bassist of Keel and extremely young Todd Chaisson (aka Todd Chase) who is a founding member and bassist of Tuff!
