Formed in early 1984, Black Widow consisted of 3 German natives, and 2 US soldiers stationed in Würzburg. They played gigs with Bloody Climax, Vendetta, among others. While the band's early material could stylistically be described as heavy metal with a strong NWOBHM influence, they later acquired some doomy and mystic elements to their sound with such tracks as "Purgatory".
