SCORPIONS "FOREST NATIONAL, BRUSSELS, BELGIUM" (APRIL 13, 1982)

Frederick Moulaert: In early 1982, Scorpions were (along with Iron Maiden and Judas Priest) one of my favorite bands. I knew every one of their tracks by heart: "Another Piece of Meat" - "Coast to Coast" - "Make It Real" - "The Zoo"...

Imagine my excitement at seeing them in concert for the first time, as they opened with "Blackout" and later in the set "Dynamite", both of which were new songs at the time.

This was two years before the band’s breakthrough album, "Love at First Sting", which brought them mainstream fame with "Still Loving You." Even back then, their tracks were just as powerful and melodic; ballads like "Always Somewhere" "In Trance" and "Holiday" played a major role in my musical education.

In those days, I didn’t have a photo pass, so I took these pictures from within the crowd, standing on my camera case. After the concert, I waited patiently in the underground parking garage of a grocery store called Colruyt, where the band’s limousines were parked, ready to take them back to their hotel. That was before I had my driver’s license and felt confident enough to interact and speak with groups directly at their hotels.
