GONE … NEVER FORGOTTEN: DANIEL ŠAKAL ŠVARC (TÖRR)

Dan Šakal Švarc (16th June 1970 – 19 January 2024). Guitar, Vocals and songwritting in Törr between 1988-1994.

Švarc was a unique and distinctive composer and lyricist who was deeply influenced and inspired by the work of Edgar Allan Poe and the cursed poets. He learned to play the guitar from an early age and became an excellent guitarist, leaving his mark mainly in the 90s, when he was a member of the Czech black metal pioneers TÖRR. He recorded the albums "Armageddon" (1990), "Institut kliníčne smrti" (1991) and "Chcípni o kus dál" (1992). After that, his journey with the band ended.

On Thursday, December 19, 2024 the cursed poet of Czech metal and former guitarist of the band Törr, Daniel Švarc, known as Šakal, passed away.

He last performed two months before his passing, at a concert of his former bandmate Vlasta Henych's band HENYCH 666 on the 33rd anniversary of the TÖRR album "Institut kliníčne smrti". The entire band's lineup at the time came together – in addition to Henych and Šakal, drummer Martin Melmus and guitarist Pavel Kohout.

"I just learned terrible and sad news. Daniel Šakal Švarc 1971-2024 died today. I'm sorry. Rest in peace, Dan," Vlasta Henych wrote on her Facebook profile late Thursday evening.
