Megadeth's first show was held on February 17, 1984 at the famous venue "Ruthie's Inn", located in Berkeley, California. The band consisted of Dave Mustaine, David Ellefson, Kerry King and Lee Rausch.. The groups that opened that night for Megadeth were Trouble and Abattoir. The tickets were valued at $5.
Lee Rausch (2015): "At Megadeth's first show I was very surprised, because I had no idea of Dave's reputation thanks to his step for Metallica." I thought we'd open the show. Ever hear a new band headline their first show? The reception from the audience was very touching. »
Dave Mustaine (1984): "I got goosebumps, after the second song [of the first concert], [the audience] started singing ""Megadeth, Megadeth"" []. ] I walked out on stage and had the shells of a machine gun, hand grenades and all that sh*t hanging. In the first show we were a bit green, so I went up on stage before the concert to check that everything is well connected [...] ] But well, I was on stage and an idiot lifted the curtain a bit and the audience saw me, so everyone started pulling the curtain. So, not to break it, the guys in the organization lifted the curtain, so, they all saw me playing the intro we had to start the show, and I just stood there. People were losing their minds. »
