THE BIRTH OF THE STOCKHOLM DEATH METAL SOUND

From Entombed's official Facebook page:

Leif - The Father of the Stockholm Sound

The Birth of the Stockholm Sound – Kista, 1987 – a northern Stockholm suburb.

I (Sassa, aka Alex) headed over to Leif "Leffe" Cuzner’s house to check out his first electric guitar and rig. There it was – a strangely shaped Quest guitar (I’ve never seen another one before or since), a 15-30 watt Marshall transistor amp, and the distortion pedal.

Leffe had been hoping for the mint-green Ibanez Tube Screamer—probably because that’s what Uffe used in Morbid—but instead, he got… this orange, toy-like piece of crap.

"It sounds like shit no matter what I do," he muttered, shaking his head. Then—grinning—"The only thing I like is when I do this…"

He cranked all the knobs to eleven and laughed.

"Listen—it’s fucking ridiculous!"

He played. We laughed. And his sound was born.

A ridiculously mad, distorted tone… whatever he did, it sounded like nothing else.

History, in its most brutal making.

And now, Leffe’s guitar and pedal—the very gear that created this unique sound—can be seen at the Total Metal exhibition at @kulturhuset in Stockholm.

Over and out - Alex

Leif, you will always be a part of Entombed. We miss you deeply and remember you with love!
