SHUB NIGGURATH (MEX) … SHORT VERSION OF THE BANDS HISTORY

Shub Niggurath is a death metal band from Mexico City, founded in 1988 under the name Tormentor. The band's current name is inspired by the fictional deity created by H.P. Lovecraft. Shub Niggurath is one of the most iconic bands in the Mexican extreme metal scene, known for its fusion of death and black metal and its focus on the occult.

During the band's first decade, they established themselves in the Mexican underground metal scene, gaining popularity for their dark and heavy style. In 1997, they released their debut album, "The Kinglike Celebration (Final Aeon on Earth)," under the Oz Productions label. This album was a success within the extreme metal scene and helped solidify their reputation within the scene. That same year, the band disbanded. It wasn't until 2011 that Shub Niggurath made their comeback with the album "A Deadly Call from the Stars," released by Lux Inframundis Productions. This work marked a transition from classic death metal to a blend of death and black metal, consolidating their position as one of the most important bands of the genre in Mexico.
