BATHORY RECORD SIGNING MAY 29, 1987

These photos were taken at Heavy Sound Record Store in Stockholm during Bathory's in-store event to promote "Under the Sign of the Black Mark".

One of the many Bathory fans who showed up to meet the band was Pelle "Dead" Ohlin, who was not yet in Mayhem [although he was in underground Swedish band, Morbid].

This is obviously a very interesting historic moment for followers of early Scandinavian Black Metal, who are notoriously concerned with history and timeline. Despite this fact, Quorthon never seemed to mention his meeting with Pelle anywhere, even when he did take the time to speak about this event. In fact, he even denied ever meeting him in the few instances he was asked about him.

Add to that the crucified Guinea pig Pelle left at Black Mark's reception desk along with a cassette tape after the event, which angered Börje Forsberg, who called and told him to never contact Quorthon again.

Years later, Quorthon claimed that Pelle sent him a letter shortly before he took his own life and apologized for all the "false rumours" he spread "because he was jealous". It's unclear, however, whether this is true or just an attempt by Quorthon to troll the interviewer like he usually did back in the day.

Note: It turns out that the blonde guy in the photos isn't Pelle, but Daniel Hojas.
