TYGERS OF THE PAN TANG PROMO PHOTO

In honour of todays passing of John Sykes (29 July 1959 – 20 January 2025)

From DENIM AND LEATHER: The Rise and Fall of the NWOBHM, by Michael Hann: Robb Weir, Tygers of Pan Tang: "I knew I had to up my game when John Sykes joined. John was always a ten times better guitar player, so I was never going to match him for playing ability. But I thought to myself, I’m going to have to sharpen things up if they’re not already sharp. And I think I did sharpen up, listening to live recordings. We used to record shows on the desk, and listen back to them on cassette player, for timings – whether we were playing fast or slow – and John and I would listen to our guitar solos, and just get a feel to make sure we were on the ball. It was the big time, and there were lots of bands out there in competition."
